Pangeo
Pangeo will be enriching your experience at the Festival with live music all weekend long.

Pangéo is a five-member group based in Seattle drawn together by a passion for Greek and Balkan folk music. With a taste for old-style dance music they are equally at home playing ballads from the mountains of Epiros in Greece, or lively tunes from the Bulgarian border area. The instrumentation includes clarinet, accordion, guitar, percussion, voices and bouzouki—for a sound that transports you to another world. See Pangeo's website at www.kyklosmusic.com/PANGEO/Pangeomain.html

Christos Govetas: clarinet, bouzouki, voice
Ruth Hunter: accordion, voice
Sandra Dean: violin
Dave Bartley: guitar
David Bilides: percussion, santouri, baghlama

St. Demetrios Greek Folk Dance Group

St. Demetrios is proud of our Greek Folk Dance program. We have over 120 dancers and singers from 4 years old to adult. We hope that this web site will encourage communication between the various people, groups, and communities that share a passion for the Greek culture.

Greek Folk Dancing is integral to our Greek culture. Our program aims to teach the Greek folk traditions of dance, music, and song while maintaining the values of the Greek Orthodox faith.

Besides performing at many community events, the St. Demetrios Greek Dancers attend the annual Folk Dance Festival. Since the FDF is a dance competition, we try to put our best foot forward by researching and practicing new suites of dances from various parts of Greece in costumes from the same region.

Our annual dance symposium, Yasoo, is held every October. Here we host instructors, dance groups, and/or musicians from Greece to teach us new dances and songs from specific regions. Greek dance enthusiasts from all over the country come to Yasoo to take the workshops, enjoy the glendi, and share the experience.
